About Us
Who We Are
The Pad for Paws Foundation is a group of Helena volunteers committed to enhancing the welfare of domestic animals in our community.
To maintain their health, pets and service/therapy animals require quality pet food, medical treatment, pet supplies, and adequate shelter. We partner with other animal-welfare organizations in an effort to provide our community’s pets with decent lives.
All board members are volunteers who donate their time and services to Pad for Paws.
As an IRS 501(c)(3) approved non-profit, we are supported entirely by private contributions, grants, and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law.
What We Are About
Pad for Paws is committed to providing a wide variety of much-needed services to our community’s animals. A few of our ongoing projects include the following:
- Paws Pantry pet food bank to provide healthy nutrition to pets of financially stressed owners.
- Partnering with other animal-welfare groups such as Helena Area Friends of Pets which funds crucially needed spay and neuter services to low-income pet owners, preventing pet over-population.
- Coordination of charitable giving and educational outreach programs with Helena’s Foundation for Animals.
- Support for senior citizens, our nation’s veterans, special-needs, and low-income pet owners who require assistance in providing for their pet’s basic needs.
- Sponsorship of Helena’s first dog park - Paws Park - a landscaped, communal dog park where owners may safely exercise their dogs and develop their pets’ social skills.
- Paws Pads program to provide kennels and dog houses to owners not able to afford outdoor shelter for their dogs.
- Education and training for local veterans and their service/therapy dogs, “Hello Kitty” program at the Center for Mental Health teaching residents how to care for their service animals, educating local youth groups on proper pet care.
